Biography

Origins and training

Alejandro Boix was born in Castellón, Spain, and began his violin studies at the Castellón Conservatory at the age of eleven, where he studied under Manuel Puig Torres (RTVE and the Spanish National Orchestra) and Bruno Vidal, first violin of the Leonor Quartet.

His training has been further shaped by masterclasses and international courses with violinists and pedagogues including Vasko Vassilev, Rosa Fain (Robert Schumann Hochschule für Musik), Michael Gaisler (Jerusalem Academy of Music), Stanislav Pronin, Mikhail Spivak (Moscow Virtuosi), Alexandru Gavrilovici, Delphine Caserta, the Leonor Quartet, Manuel Guillén (RCSMM) and Mari Tampere-Bezrodny (Sibelius Academy).

Career

Orchestra, chamber music and teaching

As an orchestral musician he has performed with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra (ERSO), the Valencian Community Youth Orchestra (JOGV), the Tallinn International Youth Orchestra (TIYO), the Baltic Academies Orchestra (BAO) and the Uue Tänava Orkester (UTO), among others, appearing in venues such as the Estonia Concert Hall and Vanemuine Concert Hall in Tallinn, and the Palau de la Música in Valencia. He has also taken part in chamber music festivals such as Sonoré in Morella and the Winter Festival of the Järvi Academy.

He studied at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in Tallinn under Mari Tampere-Bezrodny, Sigrid Kuulmann and Johanna Vahermägi. He currently works as a music teacher, combining this with whatever projects come his way: concerts, recordings, private lessons, and his work as principal violinist and founding member of the Trío Senia Ensemble.
